A Rainy October Wedding: Markus and Brookelyn's Unforgettable Day at the Inn on the Bay.
You may remember M & B from their steamy sunset engagement session here : Sunset Beach Engagement.
As wedding photographers, we've had the privilege of capturing countless love stories, but there's something uniquely magical about weddings that don't go exactly as planned. Markus and Brookelyn's wedding at the Inn on the Bay in Owen Sound, Ontario was one of those days - a beautiful reminder that love shines brightest when things don't go perfectly.

The day began with darkish skies. October in Ontario can be unpredictable and this day was no exception. The original plan was to have an outdoor ceremony near the water, but Mother Nature had other ideas.

With the threat of rain looming, they decided it be best to bring the ceremony indoors. The venue staff worked fast at transporting all the chairs inside and making room in the reception space. Transforming and dividing the room into the ceremonial area was done in no time. The room was filled with warmth and love. Markus and Brooklyn exchanged vows surrounded by their closest family and friends, and it was nothing short of magical.

Their love story is one for the books, the happy couple were vacationing in Germany and one day, while wandering through a Christmas market -set straight out of a fairytale no less, they took a ride on a Ferris wheel. At the very top, with the city view below, Markus popped the question. It was a moment of pure romance, and that same sense of fun and joy carried through to their wedding day, rain and all.

As the evening went on, the rain finally let up and the skies cleared enough to manage to sneak outside with the stunning harbour in the background. Markus and Brookelyn shared quiet moments together, the kind of moments that make our job as photographers so rewarding.

Of course, planning a wedding during Covid-19 came with its own set of challenges. A big dancing party was off limits due to restrictions at the time. Markus and Brookelyn found a creative way to keep their guests entertained: they hired a comedian. The laughter that filled the room was infectious, and it was a reminder that even in the midst of a pandemic, joy and celebration were still possible.

If you're planning a wedding and feeling stressed about the unpredictability of the weather, or whatever else the day could bring, take it from Markus and Brookelyn: the best weddings are the ones where you embrace the unexpected and focus on what truly matters - celebrating your love.
